My experience with a Webhosting Company
Running a company at 14 is a bit unheard of but I decided I should try making one. I am going to share some tips with you over a few posts on how it went.
First of all I needed a design and domain. Well I took the quick way out and bought a premade webhosting company (no clients) with a domain and design already for $160 NZD. For most kids this wouldn’t be an option so I would suggest that you make your own design and buy a cheap domain.
Now you need a billing control panel and either a dedicated or reseller cPanel account. I went with a reseller cPanel account and WHMCS for a billing control panel. About a month ago I had a problem with DNS and decided to get a VPS with cPanel… BIG mistake! I bought a VPS with only 256mb of RAM and cPanel was extremely slow. Many services were failing all the time and it was just a nightmare. I was also losing money at that time so I wasn’t too happy.
Now, domains. I can’t believe some people will buy a .com for $19.95 NZD and I go and buy it for $8. A nice $12 profit there.
So after all of this it was a great experience and I will continue to grow my webhosting company!
